01. Getting started

Download the M1+ Mac release using this website’s download button. On Mac, open the archive, move PreMask AI to Applications and sign in. Do not bypass macOS security checks for an unverified download.

Local AI targets M1 and newer Macs running macOS 13.3 or later. Intel Macs use standard identifier detection and manual masking. Windows x64 and ARM64 are in private testing, with CPU inference and no dedicated GPU required. Compatibility depends on the operating system, memory and document size, not the manufacture date alone.

Paste text or import a supported file, review the suggested items, add anything missing and approve the masked text. Share only that reviewed text. Paste the AI’s response into the same session to restore recognized placeholders.

Updates, inside the app

PreMask AI automatically checks for and downloads signed updates. Install them from the app without revisiting the website. Restart waits for your work to be saved. To check now, choose PreMask AI → Check for Updates… in the menu. Settings let you control automatic checks and downloads.

An internet connection is needed to receive a new version. A network failure does not erase your documents; retry from the app once connected.

02. Files and limitations

The Mac app reads text, PDF, supported images, DOCX, ODT, PPTX, HTML and RTF. OCR can extract text from scans. The Windows preview supports text, PDF, images, DOCX, ODT and PPTX; native Mac formats can differ.

Extraction focuses on usable text. Tables, reading order, handwriting, scans and complex layouts may need correction. A preview is not a guarantee of identical export layout. Detection is tested in French and English; other languages require extra review.

Always check the output. A missed name, an image or identifying context can remain sensitive. Add manual masks before sharing.

03. Finding your work again

Saved sessions keep their mappings locally and encrypted. Open the original session before restoring an AI response. Unknown or altered placeholders may require manual correction. Keep original documents and necessary exports separately.

Local history has no server backup. Signing out does not erase it. Losing the computer or encryption key can make it unrecoverable. Deleting a session does not delete exported copies.

04. Account and license

Your account holds login, purchase and license information; documents stay on your computer. After initial activation the Mac license can be checked offline.

Use My account for invoices, payment details and cancellation of monthly renewals. If sign-in fails, contact support. Do not pay again while a previous payment is being confirmed. See the sales and license terms for access, refunds and statutory rights.

Supported sales countries

Sales use Stripe Managed Payments tax coverage for our Swiss business. Checkout checks the billing country; legal and provider restrictions still apply. Purchases cannot be offered where your country is not covered.

05. Contact support

Email ludo47j@gmail.com with the app version, operating system and steps to reproduce the problem. Use a fictional example. Never attach confidential documents or your password.
